Metal Gear Motorcycle Revealed At London Comic-Con

“I’m looking for a vehicle, I’m looking for a ride. I’m looking for the treason that I knew in sixty-five.”

At the MCM London Comic-Con event last week, motorcycle manufacturer Triumph revealed a one-off custom bike based on the modified Bonneville T100 Snake/Big Boss will drive in the upcoming game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Designated as the “Venom Triumph Bonneville VTB.1,” the one-of-a-kind bike features off-road capable Continental TKC80 tires and an ammo rack on the back. Its saddle is a trimmed down version of the one typically found on the T100, refinished in neoprene and carbon Kevlar as a nod to Snake’s sneaking suit. What it doesn’t feature are helpful items like mirrors, a speedometer, or a rev counter, which would probably make it unsuitable for everyday commuter use.

Prior to its unveiling, the bike was contained in a cardboard box bearing the classic markings found on boxes throughout the Metal Gear Solid franchise and the insignia of the Diamond Dogs, the 1980’s mercenary organization established by Big Boss in The Phantom Pain (also the title of a David Bowie album based on George Orwell’s novel 1984, the same year Phantom Pain takes place in; Kojima’s pop culture connections remain strong as ever)
