CCP Games has announced the latest update to its space-based MMOG EVE Online, which will offer “formal support” for Linux and OS X.
The Revelations 2.3 patch will be released on November 6 with numerous bug fixes, but most significantly will offer compatibility with non-Windows operating systems. Minimum system requirements are as follows:
Cedega:
- OS: Ubuntu 7+, Suse 10+, Linspire 6
- CPU: CPU speed equal or greater than 1.8 GHz Centrino
- RAM: 1 GB
- HD space: 6 GB
- Video: Nvidia 6600; ATI is not supported.
Cider:
- OS: OS X 10.4.9 or later.
- CPU: Intel based computer with CPU speed equal or greater than 1.8 GHz; the client does not run on a PPC.
- Video: ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300
- RAM: 1 GB or more
- HD space: 6 GB
Players looking for a preview of either of the new clients are invited to download and install the software and then connect to CCP’s Multiplicity test server for a test run. More information including download links and installation instructions are available at the official EVE Online website.
