New Vince Gilligan TV Series Will Star Rhea Seehorn, Premiere at Apple

Breaking Bad creator and Better Call Saul co-creator Vince Gilligan has a new TV series in the works at Apple TV+, and it will star Emmy-nominated Rhea Seehorn, who portrayed Kim Wexler on Better Call Saul. Per Deadline, this new Vince Gilligan TV show has received a straight-to-series order for two seasons, demonstrating Apple’s confidence in Gilligan, the concept, and Rhea Seehorn. There are no plot details yet, but Seehorn’s character will be a “hero” as opposed to the “antiheroes” depicted in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Gilligan provided the following statement:

After fifteen years, I figured it was time to take a break from writing antiheroesā€¦ and whoā€™s more heroic than the brilliant Rhea Seehorn? Itā€™s long past time she had her own show, and I feel lucky to get to work on it with her. And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht and Chris Parnell! Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to ā€˜Breaking Badā€™ all those years ago. Theyā€™ve built a great team at Apple, and my wonderful, long-time partners at Sony Pictures Television and I are excited to be in business with them.

While Gilligan is executive producer and showrunner on his new Apple TV show, Jeff Frost and Diane Mercer will also be executive producers. Sony Pictures Television is producing, along with Jenn Carroll of Gilliganā€™s High Bridge Productions.

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess what the show will be about, but it is said to be a “blended, grounded genre drama.” Deadline hears budget may be in the neighborhood of $13.5M – $15M per episode. There is no premiere date. Regardless, the series will probably be pretty good, since Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are two of the greatest shows of all time.
