Newest Birds of Prey Trailer Finally Introduces the Rest of the Characters

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The first trailer for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) was fun enough, but it lacked something pretty striking: an introduction of the entire team. Obviously, Harley Quinn is the selling point here as Margot Robbie has launched the character into superstardom, but it seemed like a bit of an oversight. An oversight that is corrected in this second trailer.

As you can see, the rest of the characters that are not Harley Quinn — Huntress, Black Canary, Renee Montoya, Cassandra Cain — all get their names up there big and shiny this time as Bjorkā€˜s ā€œItā€™s Oh So Quietā€ perfectly punctuates the activities. We also get a better look at Ewan McGregor’s Roman Sionis, who has it out for all five women for various reasons after he puts a hit out on Cassandra Cain. Teamwork, of a fashion, and some heavy drug use ensues. Birds of Prey seems to be going for straight fun, which is exactly what a Harley Quinn movie should be.

Alongside Robbie, the film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, and Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz. Newcomer Ella Jay Basco also stars as Cassandra ā€œCassā€ Cain in her big movie debut. The film is directed by Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) from a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee).

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) releases on Feb. 7, 2020.
