All that time on the rooftops of Rome hunting down Templars might come in handy in the real world.
Ubisoft is looking for someone who knows the Assassin’s Creed universe back to front to work on a new encyclopedia, collecting all the series’ lore in a single place. Posting on the UbiWorkshop blog, the publisher stressed that this was a job offer, and not a crowdsourcing exercise.
The job requires knowledge of all the different parts of the Assassin’s Creed series, from the games, to the books and comics, and even the animated short. Candidates will also have to be able to write well, but that kind of goes without saying. Ubisoft is willing to accept submissions from anyone who cared to apply, saying that it didn’t want to miss out on someone with talent and passion just because he or she didn’t have five years of experience under his or her belt.
The first step of the application process is a writing test; Ubisoft is asking for two encyclopedia entries on characters, artifacts, or events of the series. Applicants can write about two of the following: a main character like Desmond, or Ezio; a major supporting character like Lucy or Malik; one of the series’ myriad items, such as the Animus, or the Piece of Eden; or a major historical event that appears in the series. Ubisoft says that it will look particularly favorably on applicants who can make comparisons between the events of the games and how the same events happened in the real world.
There are a few other stipulations, which you can read about on the blog post. Ubisoft says that applicants need not live in Montreal – where the Assassin’s Creed team is based – but that it would be useful if they did. If you have the knowledge, this is a great opportunity to put those geeky skills to use. It sounds like Ubisoft wants to take the encyclopedia in a really interesting direction too, making something informative but fun as well.
