Telltale and publishers bring Sam & Max to retail.
The crime-fighting cartoon characters Sam and Max will be returning to retail stores in August, following an agreement between series developer Telltale Games with publishers The Adventure Company and The JoWood Group. Season One of the series’ reincarnation features six episodes, four of which have already been introduced on Gametap, a digital distribution service. No price has been announced, but the series runs for $34.95 on Gametap, so the CD version is likely to be slightly more expensive.
Richard Wah Kan, President and CEO of The Adventure Company, is pumped to be publishing the franchise’s return to retail. “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Telltale and the Sam & Max franchise. With such a rich history behind the Sam & Max name and the tremendous following of ardent Sam & Max fans, we’re proud to play a part in the rebirth of such a legendary franchise.”
Telltale CEO Dan Connors also commented on the series’ resurgence. “The Adventure Company will be an excellent partner for Sam & Max‘s path to retail. Our internal development studio’s been having a fun time working with Steve’s characters and we’re looking forward to getting the games out to new audiences in the Fall.”
