As close to an official launch as we’re ever going to get, Sony’s oft-delayed online virtual world finally opens its doors.
As previously reported, PlayStation Home is arriving just in time for the holidays as Sony announced today that come tomorrow, December 11, its online virtual sausage-fest will be available for one and all to download and stand around in.
Over at the official PlayStation blog, Home director Jack Buser said, “This milestone represents the very beginning of a long journey together, as PlayStation Home is an ever evolving, always changing, organic experience – full of new friends to meet, new events to enjoy, and new content to explore.” One of those new pieces of content added since the beta is a brand-new central plaza that houses a four player mini-game called Saucer Pop, that has players launching flying saucers and taking off after a series of bubbles for points.
In this web 2.0 world that we live in, PlayStation Home can remain in open beta status from December 11 until the day the Sun explodes, but Sony is urging participants to look forward to a variety of new content from such publishing partners and brands as Activision, Electronic Arts, Disney and of course, its recently announced partnership with Red Bull.
Now that we’re finally on Home’s doorstep, do you plan on downloading it? If so, what kind of experience do you expect from PlayStation Home and do you intend on making your stay a lengthy one?
