New levels telling standalone stories for Octodad: Dadliest Catch will arrive later this summer.
Octodad: Dadliest Catch is the charming story of a cephalopod and his struggles to live among humans, hiding in plain sight with his human wife and children. Developer Young Horses released a live-action trailer today announcing new DLC levels for Octodad: Dadliest Catch. Collectively titled Octodad: Shorts, the new levels are standalone stories, longer than a typical level in Dadliest Catch . The new levels will be released for free as an update to the game. Octodad: Shorts will arrive on PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, and Linux later this summer.
“New levels were our number one most requested feature (next to making the game free), so we’ve been hard at work doing what you all tell us to!” says Young Horses. The developer has released a few screenshots from the upcoming DLC, which suggest that the new levels will include a fancy dinner out and working at a hospital. Octodad: Shorts will include more than 40 new objectives, “an unspecified amount of new octopus sounds” and “Probably a pizza!” according to the announcement.
The successful indie title from developer Young Horses has sold over 250,000 copies across all platforms. The developer’s original title, Octodad was developed at DePaul University and was nomated as a Student Showcase Winner at the 2011 Game Developers Conference. Octodad: Dadliest Catch built on the original concept and successfully raised $24,320 in funding on Kickstarter. Octodad: Dadliest Catch was released January 30, 2014 for PC, Mac, and Linux, and came to PlayStation 4 on April 22. If you’re keen to go flopping around Octodad’s world, Octodad: Dadliest Catch is currently marked down 40% for the Steam Summer sale.
