Oscar Isaac is joining Sony Pictures’ Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation as Solid Snake, according to Deadline. Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing the film. Additionally, Derek Connolly wrote the script, Avi Arad is producing, and Peter Kang is serving as the executive overseer for the studio.
Those familiar with Vogt-Robert’s history with the film and the Metal Gear Solid franchise will note that the director has been vocal about his desire to work on the film for some time. Aside from placing the occasional video game-related Easter egg in his films, Vogt-Roberts has published more than a few posts on Twitter containing concept art for the film. Though these don’t necessarily give us much insight as to what storyline the movie will follow, the director’s enthusiasm is clear.
I wish I could share more frequent updates on the film adaptation of @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN’s seminal METAL GEAR SOLID…
But❗️I can share this codec from the legends @DavidBHayter, @4pauleiding & @christophran as we celebrate MGS and try to make the world whole again.#MGSQUARANTINE pic.twitter.com/6AE9qLL74v

Additionally, early last year, Vogt-Roberts spoke with pop culture artist BossLogic about creating a mock-up of what Isaac could look like as Solid Snake, which you can see below.
THIS-MUSING-IS-NOT-NEWS-PSA:
To everyone asking how I feel about Oscar Isaac saying he wants to be Solid Snake.
The full process required to cast an icon hasn’t even started, but..
Ask @Bosslogic where the idea for his brilliant mock up came from.

Isaac, who wrapped up his time in the Star Wars universe with The Rise of Skywalker last year, was also recently revealed to be in talks to lead in Marvel’s Moon Knight Disney+ series. With his busy schedule and the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting workers everywhere, Deadline says that the movie’s production start date remains unknown.
