Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye DLC expansion release date trailer Annapurna Interactive Mobius Digital

Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye DLC Launches in September

Publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Mobius Digital have revealed Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye, a DLC expansion to the 2019 sci-fi adventure. The Annapurna Interactive Showcase today brought an ominous trailer that teased additional content with new, spine-chilling adventures. Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One with a release date of September 28, 2021.

Mobius Digital provided a vague summary of what to expect in the expansion: “A strange satellite photo that can’t be explained. A new museum exhibit that marks the trailhead for one last journey into the wilds. Should you pull at the thread and unravel the solar system’s deepest secret, or is some knowledge better left in the dark?”

Creative director Alex Beachum appeared during the presentation to introduce players to the idea of Outer World’s “first and only expansion.” He said the Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye DLC will “weave directly into the existing world and narrative.” Noting the nature of the game itself, he acknowledged that players will likely have many questions about how DLC will fit with the story, but he left fans guessing.

Beachum also confirmed that a Nintendo Switch version of Outer Wilds is still in development with plans to launch sometime this holiday season. The original game launched in 2019 as a sci-fi game where players find themselves playing as an alien astronaut caught in a time loop.
