The Kickstarter for the card game Pillars of Eternity: Lords of the Eastern Reach has already surpassed its $30,000 funding goal.
Obsidian Entertainment’s Kickstarter for Pillars of Eternity was, to put it lightly, a success. In addition to raising nearly $4 million dollars, it served as the foundation for one of the best regarded RPGs in recent years. All of that in mind, Pillars of Eternity recently returned to Kickstarter for another campaign aimed at bringing the franchise to an entirely different platform of gaming: cards.
The Kickstarter for the new card game, dubbed Pillars of Eternity: Lords of the Eastern Reach, was launched a few days ago by Zero Radius Games. An officially licensed game, Lords of the Eastern Reach will drop players into the role of lords tasked with building up a stronghold, hiring soldiers for an army and conquering their competitors. The game will be playable by 2-4 players and come with more than 200 cards, an assortment of tokens, a full-color rulebook and a custom event dice. If unlocked, additional stretch goals will also add in things like plastic tokens, an upgraded event dice, eight new hero cards and more depending on the amounts raised.
The odds of the game reaching those extra heights currently look pretty good. With 33 days left, the campaign has already (as of the publication of this story) climbed up past $34,000, surpassing its original $30,000 goal and unlocking its first stretch reward. What will be interesting to see, of course, is what else Zero Radius opts to add into the game as its campaign’s success continues to grow. Check out the Kickstarter for yourself and let us know your impressions.
