The Danish company Implementation officially launched a web site today that will allow PlayStation 3 owners to see which of their PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 titles are playable on their PS3.
The web site, www.ps3comp.com, is based on other user’s experiences and lists more than 13,000 titles from the portfolio of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 titles that are are or aren’t playable on the PS3.
“Since the beta release a month ago the site has already had 17,000 hits. That’s good news for all us PS3 owners. It underlines the need for an impartial compatibility site,” said Jesper Joensson, co-founder of www.ps3comp.com. “Many use the site for checking changes in firmware compatibility. Newer firmware doesn’t necessarily mean better compatibility, so before upgrading they make sure their games are as compatible with the new firmware version as the old.”
