In light of PlayStation’s acquisition of Housemarque, it looks like PlayStation Japan may have accidentally leaked another studio joining the family. This time around it appears PlayStation Studios has acquired Bluepoint Games, which most recently developed the Demon’s Souls remake on PlayStation 5.
PlayStation Japan apparently uploaded the wrong image at first in its first tweet about Housemarque’s acquisition. The image clearly shows the PlayStation Studios logo along with Bluepoint’s logo saying “Welcome to the family,” which is the same format that was used for Housemarque’s image. The image also shows the Demon’s Souls cover inserted along with the covers of the rest of PlayStation’s exclusives.

Neither PlayStation nor Bluepoint Games has made an official announcement to this effect, but it could be coming soon. Bluepoint has worked with PlayStation on quite a few projects in the past, including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Gravity Rush Remastered, and Shadow of the Colossus.
This acquisition was rumored back in November of last year. While the studio has been working on remakes and ports of existing games recently, it has expressed interest in creating its own original IP. Joining PlayStation and securing the necessary funds to do so from Sony is certainly one way to do it.
