The August 2022 Pokémon Presents was surprisingly kind of a snoozefest as far as general IP updates go, but it offered lots of exciting info about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. For example, it revealed that the two new Legendary Pokémon on the covers of the Scarlet and Violet boxes, Koraidon and Miraidon, are actually your mode of transportation for when you travel across the open world. You will be relying on one of them as a travel partner in your adventure as you dash across grass, water, and the sky together. The Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon can even change form as needed in Scarlet and Violet to make travel more convenient, taking on forms like a motorcycle and a hang glider / jet.
Specifically, these are the three forms:
- Sprinting Build / Drive Mode: Players can ride Sprinting Build Koraidon or Drive Mode Miraidon, making it easier to traverse the expansive Paldea region more freely.
- Swimming Build / Aquatic Mode: Players will be able to jump into rivers, lakes and vibrant oceans to approach the Pokémon that live there or cross perilous waters in a snap by riding Swimming Build Koraidon or Aquatic Mode Miraidon.
- Gliding Build / Glide Mode: Players can jump from mountains, towering cliffs or tall buildings and glide toward their destination.
Fans had suspected for a while that the Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet would have transportation features of some kind, since each seemed to have a motorcycle wheel protruding from their torso in the box art. Today, that news is confirmed. What the trailer does not specify, however, is when you will receive Koraidon or Miraidon. The phrasing seems to suggest you will capture them much earlier in your adventure than you normally would, which in itself is really cool.
