Rockstar Games co-founder and vice president of creative Dan Houser is departing the company after 22 years of work. Take-Two Interactive published an SEC filing confirming that, following a break Houser took in spring of last year, he will serve his last day at Rockstar on March 11, 2020.

“We are extremely grateful for [Houser’s] contributions,” read the filing. “Rockstar Games has built some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful game worlds, a global community of passionate fans and an incredibly talented team, which remains focused on current and future projects.”

Houser has been there every step of the way for each of Rockstar’s critical and commercial successes. The figurehead was a key part of both the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises but heavily remained involved with Max Payne 3, Bully, L.A. Noire, and other massive titles.

Houser has not stated what comes next after he departs in March.

As for what is in the cards for Rockstar, the studio most recently released the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC players, and with next-generation consoles on the horizon, most fans are expecting an announcement regarding the future of Grand Theft Auto to take place sometime in the next few years.
