The PS4 and PS Vita versions of Skullgirls Encore will include all of the DLC characters, stages, and story funded by Lab Zero’s Indiegogo campaign.

Skullgirls, despite having to deal with some frivolous sexism accusations, quickly became crowdfunding service IndieGoGo’s golden child, embarking on an underdog story of how a game, screwed over by its own publisher, could rise from the ashes with the help of the community. The campaign basically resulted in Skullgirls: Encore, a new version of the game with new characters, stages, and story, and now, its making its way to the PS4 and PS Vita.

“Very little has been constant during Skullgirls‘ two year existence – after all, the game has changed distributors and even developers,” wrote Sony on its official blog. “But one thing has stayed with us all this time: people asking us to bring the game to PS Vita and, more recently, PS4. We read your comments, we took them to heart, and we’re finally making it happen: Skullgirls Encore will be coming to PS4 and PS Vita later this year!”

The PS4 and PS Vita versions of Skullgirls Encore will be complete, including all of the DLC characters, stages, and story funded by Lab Zero’s Indiegogo campaign, as well as “All Play” multiplayer lobbies and an extensive art gallery.

Lab Zero will also being hosting a side-tournament for Skullgirls at this year’s EVO, with Sony donating two PS4 systems for the winners.
