The MOBA of the Gods is officially due in 2014.
Hi-Rez Studios’ free to play MOBA, Smite, now has an actual honest to He Bo release date: Tuesday March 25th, 2014. A tournament will be held the following weekend, and there’s $100,000 on the line for the best of the best. The open Beta’s still open if you want to have a bash before the appointed day, and anyone who joins now and reaches level 30 before launch gets a Cacodemon skin for the god Ymir.
The qualifiers for the 29-30th March tournament will begin January 4th. Gods will battle, and many will be crushed, but at the end of it all eight teams – four from North America, four from Europe – will be chosen to duel for the top prize. The tourney will be held in front of a live audience at Atlanta, Georgia, and will be livestreamed via Twitch for those of you who just can’t be there in person.
This one’s been in Beta for a while now, and its release date is a welcome announcement. For those of you wondering about your progress so far, don’t worry, you get to keep it all after release. Take your Gods to glory! It’s time to rain holy smack-down on the foe.
