SCE President David Reeves conceded the company’s handheld could do with a few more games.

“Hand on heart, would we like more PSP games? Yes, we would. We really would,” Reeves told the European-based industry publication Gamesindustry.biz.

Sony has launched a satellite navigation program for the PlayStation Portable along with a host of interoperability features with the PS3. But at the biggest event of the year for Sony’s videogame division, PlayStation Day, only two new PSP games got a mention.

The PSP has little in the way of exclusives planed, and only a couple notable licenses, like Lego Indiana Jones and WWE Smackdown.

Nonetheless, it is doing well in Japan, where it has sold more than 1.6 million units, thanks to an array of colors and numerous Capcom titles.

“It’s phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal,” Reeves remarked, adding that he expected some Japanese-made titles to make its way West.
