Star Wars: Squadrons has been officially revealed, showcasing EA and Motive Studios’ sci-fi dogfighter. The publisher debuted a CG announcement trailer for the game today, revealing plans to release the game on Oct. 2, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store, Origin, and Steam. The game will only be $39.99 and features cross-play support for all platforms, as well as VR support on PC and PlayStation 4.

Star Wars: Squadrons is set just after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and features a two-sided single-player campaign and 5v5 multiplayer segment. The campaign allows fans to experience the aftermath of the third film through the perspective of two pilots — one Rebel and one Empire — with each having their own customizable elements. Before each skirmish, players will plan the attack in a briefing room. Players with VR-compatible platforms will be able to play the entirety of the game with headsets on.

Today’s trailer provided no gameplay, though EA has promised to premiere gameplay footage during its EA Play Live 2020 event on June 18.

Star Wars: Squadrons first appeared in March as the leaked Star Wars: Project Maverick. The game leaked again just last week with its official title on the Microsoft Store, with many eventually chiming in with reports of the game being multiplayer-focused.

It has been confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront II‘s Mitch Dyer, along with Joanna Berry, is writing the game.

EA and Motive’s Star Wars: Squadrons launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Oct. 2.
