Never say that Disney’s attempt to take over the world is an entirely bad thing. Without their need for new content on Disney+, we wouldn’t be getting a final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In the gap betweenĀ The Mandalorian and any Marvel content, Disney is hoping to pull in more subscribers by bringing back the fan-favorite series for its final conclusion after the show was canceled six years ago… by them. My, how the tables have turned.
That goes for Ahsoka as well as the new trailer for the series shows.
This final season follows Ahsoka as she has left the Jedi Order, disillusioned by their role as soldiers in the Clone Wars instead of the peacekeepers they should be. As Anakin turns more to the Dark Side and the Emperor’s evil plan comes to fruition, Ahsoka faces down Darth Maul, a confrontation that has been brewing since the series began. It looks like some amazing action, and withĀ The Mandalorian tying into the series surprisingly heavily, the lore from this series is clearly going to play a large part in Disney’s plans for the franchise as we move forward. The best aspect of the show has always been its deep dive into these characters, and its one of the reasons that it is consistently applauded as some of the best Star Wars to be made before or after Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm.
The final season sees the entire main cast returning with Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka), Dee Bradley Baker (Captain Rex and the clone troopers), James Arnold Taylor as (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan), and Sam Witwer (Maul) all voicing their original characters. This will hopefully make it feel like the show hasn’t missed a beat despite the long gap from season six to season seven.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars sixth season will premiere on Disney+ on Feb. 21.
