Star Wars: Visions Season 2 Animation Studios & Release Date Revealed

Star Wars: Visions Season 2 Animation Studios & Release Date Revealed

One of the most interesting and creative things in the Star Wars universe just got even more interesting. Today, Disney+ and Lucasfilm announced not just a release date of May 4, 2023 (Star Wars Day) for Star Wars: Visions season 2, but it also revealed the nine animation studios that will each create a new short film taking place somewhere, somewhen in the Star Wars universe. This season of the show has a more international focus than the first season, which was mainly Japanese studios, pulling in studios from around the world to deliver a set of unique stories that will both fill in character backstories and introduce new ones.

The nine new studios featured are an impressive array of powerhouse animation studios that have garnered more awards and nominations than one could list. They are El Guiri (Spain), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Punkrobot (Chile), Aardman (United Kingdom), Studio Mir (South Korea), Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India), D’art Shtajio (Japan), and Triggerfish (South Africa). Dā€™Art Shtajioā€™s short was created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd. (United States). They’ll be looking to top the first season of the series, which was heralded by fans and critics alike as one of the more impressive bits of Star Wars content that’s been produced since Disney took over. It was especially striking because it gave new creative teams a chance to tackle the franchise, bring in new ideas, and look outside of what the Disney+ and films have delivered over the last few years. A much-needed breath of fresh air.

While we don’t have any plot details about each of the nine stories inĀ Star Wars: Visions season 2, each episode did get a title and a director. You can check out the full information on each studio and their respective shorts below ahead of the Star Wars: Visions season 2 release date of May 4.
