Developer Undead Labs announced today that they’re working on State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition, an upgraded version of the base game. This update is free to all owners of the base game and will launch on both Xbox Game Pass and Steam on March 13. It will also include the three DLC packs that were previously released (Independence Pack, Daybreak Pack, and Heartland) for no additional charge. Those that previously purchased the DLC or bought the game’s Ultimate Edition will receive exclusive in-game gifts that they just need to collect via logging in.
Among the updates for State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition are an additional open-world map called Providence Ridge, an improved post-tutorial experience, and a new category of heavy melee weapons that are built around timing your attacks. Beyond all of those additions, Undead Labs also revamped the graphics by including better lighting and foliage optimization.
Some small gameplay changes have been made as well, as State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition will feature a slightly modified control scheme that separates the dodge and stealth commands. Rounding out the package are a bunch of bug fixes and an improved audio experience as they have doubled the amount of music in the game.
State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition marks the first time that the zombie survival game has made its way onto Steam. It will cost $29.99 on Valve’s platform and will feature cross-network play support. It’s available for preorder now and can also be enjoyed via Xbox Game Pass on PC. State of Decay 2 originally released May 22, 2018 on Xbox One and PC, and this latest update marks nearly two years of post-launch support.
