Super NES Classic: All 21 Confirmed Games (And 8 We Wish Were Included)

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information
snesclassic2

The SNES Classic is real, and it comes with 21 absolute, stone-cold classic games. Here’s the full list if you’re curious what the latest plug-in-play system from Nintendo comes with.

There are two serious surprises in this roster of games — Star Fox 2, and the re-emergence of superFX chip games like Yoshi’s Island. Until now, the unreleased ROM of Star Fox 2 has never been officially sold. Sure, you could download it, but this version promises to be feature complete. The master prototype never got out, according to the lead designer, so we’re finally getting a full version of Star Fox 2.

We’re also getting superFX chip games. No superFX chip games have been officially emulated from Nintendo, leading to poor handheld re-releases of Yoshi’s Island. That means we might be getting (finally!) a perfect version of this, and other, superFX SNES games.

The $80 SNES Classic system comes with two controllers in the box. It releases in stores on Sept. 29th.

10 Notable Games Not Included

The SNES library is so stacked with classics, there are still lots of games we were sad to see not included. Here’s a quick list of all the games missing from the SNES Classic.

The biggest mark against the SNES Classic is, obviously, Chrono Trigger. Donkey Kong Country 2, many’s favorite of the DKC series, also doesn’t appear. It’s still an incredible list of varied games. Who knows, Nintendo might add more to the package one day.

  • Chrono Trigger

  • NBA Jam: Tournament Edition
  • Illusion of Gaia
  • Tetris Attack
  • ActRaiser
