Dontnod Entertainment’s next title, Tell Me Why, is a narrative adventure game that will look at the connection between two twins. Just as with Life Is Strange 2 before it, Tell Me Why will focus on two new characters: Tyler and Alyson. Players will have the opportunity to experience past memories from each character as they attempt to piece together their past. The trailer’s description offers a little more insight as to what Dontnod fans can expect in Tell Me Why: “In this intimate thriller, twins Tyler and Alyson use their special bond to unravel mysteries of their loving but troubled childhood. Set in beautiful small-town Alaska, Tell Me Why features true-to-life characters, mature themes, and gripping choices.”

Dontnod has also been working closely with LGBTQ group GLAAD in order to make sure Tyler, the game’s playable transgender character, is represented as authentically as possible. GLAAD’s Nick Adams expressed his appreciation for Dontnod and Microsoft’s efforts in a statement: “Tyler is a fully-realized, endearing character, whose story is not reduced to simplistic trans tropes. Creating a playable lead trans character—and taking such care to get it right—raises the bar for future LGBTQ inclusion in gaming.”

Escapist had the chance to interview Life Is Strange 2 writer Christian Divine about Dontnod and his work on the studio’s narrative adventures. For more on Dontnod’s artistry, be sure to read about the effective use of romance in Vampyr in Elijah Beahm’s Second Look.

Expect all three Tell Me Why chapters to drop in summer of 2020 on Xbox and PC. Xbox Game Pass users will be able to play the game as soon as it releases.
