The Ascent is a single-player and co-op action game set in the futuristic world of Veles, and you’ll be able to customize your character with augmentations to fit your specific play style. Curve Digital and Neon Giant explain that the game rewards creativity when venturing through its many unique environments. Microsoft previously showed off The Ascent as part of its ID@Xbox Showcase in March.

The narrative of the game involves “The Ascent Group arcology, a corporate-run metropolis stretching high into the sky and filled with creatures from all over the galaxy.” You are a worker enslaved by the company who is “suddenly caught in a vortex of catastrophic events: The Ascent Group shuts down for unknown reasons and the survival of your district is threatened. You must take up arms and embark on a new mission to find out what started it all.”

Preorders for The Ascent have begun ahead of its July release date.
