The third and final part of the Metro: Last Light gameplay demo from E3 is now up on Youtube.
Back in July, when the first Metro: Last Light E3 gameplay trailer was released, we mentioned that the presence of a mini-gun made it a little more action-shooter-oriented than we expected. The second trailer featured a running escape from a set-piece in a Reich station, also very action-packed and bullets-flying. And now part three is upon us and once again it’s a fast-paced firefight from start to finish.
I’m assuming that “god mode” was enabled for this video, as Artyom seems a lot more bullet-resistant and his crappy rifle deals out a lot more damage than I remember. And while it’s hard to argue with better run-and-gun action, and acknowledging that this is an E3 trailer designed specifically to grab eyeballs, I’m not sure this is the sort of thing that’s really going to go over with Metro fans. You can’t blame THQ for wanting to broaden the game’s appeal beyond that relatively limited audience, I just hope they don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater in the process.
On the upside, it looks great, although I hope that music is just a placeholder. Metro: Last Light is currently expected to come out in the first half of 2012 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
