This is the last time you’ll see Sesame Street and True Blood in the same sentence.
Nothing about True Blood seems to line up with the G-rated children’s entertainment of Sesame Street, but the show’s muppet cast has managed to parody the HBO show all the same. So just how do you turn True Blood into family-friendly entertainment? You air it on Grouch-B-O (the network for grouches everywhere) and call it True Mud, in which blood-loving vampires are replaced with mud-loving grouches. The opening credits are surprisingly spot on for the True Blood original, despite skipping past all of the adult content.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Sesame Street has targeted pop culture with educational (and very much G-rated) parodies: Mad Men, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, and plenty of other shows and movies have gotten the same treatment, all to delightful results.
If you just can’t wait for more True Blood, however, season 7 premieres this Sunday night on HBO.
