The newest Back 4 Blood trailer introduces the game’s playable characters and the unique zombies they’ll have to mow down. The eight main characters – Walker, Doc, Karlee, Jim, Hoffman, Evangelo, Mom, and Holly – each have their own unique traits. Walker, for example, gains increased accuracy with precision kills, has increased damage, and team health. Hoffman, on the other hand, spawns ammo with kills in addition to receiving an additional offensive item slot and increased team ammo capacity.
Back 4 Blood’s hordes of infected are called the Ridden and range from small and scrappy to large and disgusting. The meat mass-throwing Ogre falls in line with the larger of the game’s enemies, while the Snitcher is smaller but calls for other Ridden to help swarm your team. Back 4 Blood was announced in 2019 from Turtle Rock Studios and is somewhat of a spiritual successor to that developer’s Left 4 Dead series. The game was originally set to launch in June but was eventually delayed so the team could make sure it’s “the best game it can possibly be at launch.”
Back 4 Blood launches on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S on Oct. 12.
