Today, developer HandyGames posted a teaser image on social media that some are speculating is related to Titan Quest, with the year “2021” attached to the image. Titan Quest is a hack-and-slash game by developer Iron Lore Entertainment and published by THQ, originally released on PC in 2006. In 2016 it came to iOS and Android and in 2018 also released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, even receiving new DLC.
There is nothing concrete to guarantee HandyGames is working on a Titan Quest 2 or anything else explicitly in the same universe, though the original game and this teaser feature similar imagery and publisher THQ Nordic owns HandyGames. THQ Nordic was previously Nordic Games and bought the THQ name and many of its IPs, and it has risen to prominence due to its many studio and IP purchases such as of the Timesplitters franchise and of Metro developer 4A Games by THQ Nordic’s parent, Embracer Group.
We're working on something Legendary!
Guess What! pic.twitter.com/JYkDrNjcku— HandyGames š Titan Quest: Ultimate Edition Mobile (@handy_games) December 28, 2020
Just this past year, THQ Nordic launched remakes of Destroy All Humans! and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. The publisher also released a remaster of Kingdoms of Amalur as Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning.
It shouldn’t be surprising that a new Titan Quest game could be under consideration given how many projects that THQ Nordic is involved with. That also includes new games like Chronos: Before the Ashes and Desperados III. 2020 was certainly a busy year for the publisher, and no doubt 2021 will continue that.
