Who Said You Need to Put Away the Claws?

This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

So this is going to be the first in a something that might, in some fashion, resemble a series, of columns. I’m going to talk about some of the many power sets I’ve tried, and why I like, or dislike, them! Some I’ve played more than others, of course, and this is all completely my own opinion

I’m going to start with something near and dear to my heart: Claws, Mialiah’s primary set. I’ll talk about her secondary next time. Now, I was going to talk about each power separately, but changed my mind. That is tedious and boring, especially since there are about a million places to find out the details about every single attack.

Since Mialiah was my first character, I was just picking things that seemed like they would be fun. Claws fit her personal ‘theme’, and sounded like it would be just cool to play. And it is! So what is the nice part about Claws?

Well, it’s a fast set. Everything recharges really quick, and it doesn’t take all that much stamina to use them either! So, while some of your buddies might be running out of energy in the middle of the fight, you just keep right on going.

Also, I have to admit I like the feel of the in your face fighting that Claws dishes out. There are very few sets that have that street fighter feeling to them, and I love that! So whats bad about all this then?

Well, the price you pay for all that speed? You don’t do nearly as much damage as your buddies do. So, while you can fight twice, even three times, as long as they can – they can take out a bad guy in about half, or even less, the time you can. This means that, on occasion, I tend to feel a bit like the clean-up crew on a team, taking down stragglers, or the only person still left fighting my one lone guy versus the two or three they took out.

There are some other things that make up for that. You get, not one, but two ranged attacks, some cone’s and some area of effects. You get your own powers to buff your damage and accuracy, and debuff the bad guys a bit, not to mention keep them off their feet.

In the end, I’ll always love my Claws. It’s fast, it’s fun and it’s in your face. I still get a bit of a thrill sometimes when I’m duking it out on the Streets of Paragon, and hopefully, so do you! Until next time, keep up the good fight! -@Mialiah
