Zack Snyder is very serious and making a very serious movie for the very serious DCEU (that is no more). The latest trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League shows just how very serious this all is by being in black and white, which means it’s way more artistic than the other trailer that dropped in August during DC FanDome but was pulled over music rights. That trailer was actually pretty much the exact same thing barring a few visual tweaks, shots, and special effects. There’s still a version of “Hallelujah” playing over it, and it still makes you feel like Snyder is basically trolling the world.

This version of the Zack Snyder’s Justice League trailer may be a hint at the ideal version of the film that Snyder has discussed as being in IMAX and black and white, as if he’s delivering us the next Mad Max: Fury Road onto the big screen and not an over-bloated, recut, 4-part miniseries landing on HBO Max. The black-and-white look doesn’t really make all that much of a difference and actually looks kind of ridiculous in some of the more overblown shots. There’s not much more to glean from since we’ve seen it all before.
WarnerMedia stunned the world when it actually greenlit the “Snyder Cut” to land on HBO Max, but initial reports were that it was mostly complete and would only require editing and some special effects work. However, since then Snyder has done new shots for the movie and even brought in new characters like Jared Leto’s Joker. Just how it’s all going to fit together into a cohesive whole is a major mystery. The film will not be part of the DCEU, but DC’s opening up of the multiverse allows it to still be somewhat connected.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will land on HBO Max in 2021.
